Michael Lee Johnson, 64, of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at his home. His family will host a Celebration of Life at Beeds Lake State Park in Hampton, Iowa on Saturday, July 20, from 3pm-8pm in the Stone Lodge Building. Michael Lee Johnson was born August 20, 1959, in Iowa Falls, son of Bernard and Marlys (Schoon) Johnson. He attended schools in Hampton and received his GED. Mike was united in marriage to Leslie Schipper at Beeds Lake in Hampton. To this union, three children were born: Miranda, Tjaden and Brandon. Mike and Leslie later divorced after 16 years of marriage, but their love never died.
Mike was a jack of all trades. He could fix anything; cars, computers, etc. He had many jobs in his lifetime from being a welder, roofer, bricklayer, painter, cook, custodian, the list just goes on. There really wasn’t much he couldn’t do, and if he couldn’t do something you bet he was trying to teach himself how. Mike was an excellent musician and loved his guitars. He loved shooting pool and playing darts with his buddies, but most of all with his best friend Steve Haviland.
Mike is survived by his children: Miranda (Scott) Dixon of Britt; Tjaden (Mykella) Dixon of Hampton; and Brandon Dixon of Clinton; granddaughter Sadie Raisch of Britt; siblings: Rick (Jane) Johnson of Hampton; Debra (Mark) Klunder of Hampton; Jeffrey (Teresa) Johnson of Coulter; and Pamela Kaehn of Hampton; nieces and nephews: Ricky (Tara) Johnson, Reggie Johnson, Robbie Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Monica (Justin) Berning, Krysta (Chase) Weinandy, Travis Klunder, Mindi (Corey) Kenney, Kyle Kaehn, Kylie Kaehn, Jared Johnson and Dakota Johnson; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.
