James Marvin Muller was born April 19, 1949, the son of Raymond and Marie (Pfeffer) Muller. An Algona, Iowa native, he graduated from Algona High School in 1969.

Jim started his working career in Wilmington, Illinois, but soon returned to Algona after he married the love of his life, Renee Braund, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, on April 16, 1971. He held a variety of jobs in the community, from the local Hormel plant, to supporting community residents with disabilities, to working a variety of construction jobs. He was often the first call from friends and family when something went haywire at home because he loved an excuse to use his tools.

Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and participated in Ducks Unlimited events. He had a charming smile that reached his eyes, an infectious laugh, and a heart of gold. A devoted husband and father, what brought Jim the most joy was spending time with his family. He loved being a father to four boys and got involved leading the Boy Scouts when they were growing up. He was a very patriotic man and was especially proud of their military service. His children and grandchildren were a source of immense happiness.

Jim passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona at the age of 75.

He is survived by his wife, Renee Muller of Algona; three sons: Casey (Christina) Muller of Orlando, FL, Cody (Abha) Muller of Chicago, IL, and Wyatt Muller of Algona, IA; grandchildren Logan, Delilah, Ethan, and Cadence; siblings, Ron Muller of Florida, Larry (Janelle) Muller of Missouri, Roger (Kathy) Muller of Estherville, IA, Cheryl (Ed) Birkitt of Florida; Kevin (Annette) Muller of Texas. Other surviving family members include siblings-in-law: Cindy (Steve) Halvorsen of Minnesota; Dawn (Martin) Kasemir of Germany; Zane (Janelle) Braund of Wisconsin; Tracey (Lonnie) Huston of Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews held close to his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Bonnie and Vernon Braund; son, Blake Muller; brothers-in-law, Randy and Vern Braund; nephew, Zachary Braund and niece, Stacey Halvorsen.
