Deborah Lou (Peterson) Jacobs was born June 1st, 1955, in Minneapolis, MN; daughter of Wayne and Elsie (Larsen) Peterson. Born and raised in the Minneapolis area, Deb graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1973. Following her graduation, she pursued her passion for cosmetology, embarking on a fulfilling career as a beautician. To Deb, the salon wasn’t just a place for haircuts and styles; it was a place where her clients found comfort, laughter, and friendship.
On March 20th, 1976, she was united in marriage to Joel Jacobs in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Together they raised their four children.
Traveling was one of Deb’s greatest joys, and she shared many unforgettable adventures with Joel, family and friends. Playa del Carmen Mexico, the gulf coast of Florida including Anna Maria Island, and Madeline Island on Lake Superior were some of her favorite places. Deb enjoyed pheasant hunting. Making hunting trips throughout the Midwest, hunting in Minnesota, Iowa, and the open prairies of both North Dakota and South Dakota. She enjoyed canoeing and camping on the wild rivers in Minnesota. Deb was a voracious book reader. She enjoyed a wide variety of books, with a special interest in stories from the Second World War era.
Deb’s magnetic personality and genuine kindness made her a cherished friend to all. She was quick to strike up conversations with strangers and had a talent for making friends everywhere she went. She loved people of all ages, from the youngest children to the wisest elders, and everyone in between. She was passionate about dancing and music. Above all, Deb cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. In September of 2022, Deb and Joel made their home in Buffalo Center, Iowa and enjoyed the small-town feeling.
Deb was called home to Heaven on May 31st, just one day before her birthday. She was 68.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joel of Buffalo Center; children, Matthew (Cassie) Jacobs of Somerset, WI, Grant (Meggon) Jacobs of Buffalo Center, Taylor (Linde) Jacobs of River Falls, WI, Noelle (Chad) Schmidt of Lakeville, MN; 9 grandchildren, Corrine, Cru, Elsa, Adler, Clare, Eisley, Everly, Ellis, Alma; siblings, Joan Tidholm, Rodger (Lorraine) Peterson, JoEllen Langworthy, { significant other, Gary Daily} Ronnie (Mary Jo) Peterson, Bruce (Diane) Peterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and brothers, Pete, Steve, Donnie, and David.
