Bruce Merland Lines, age 73, of Owatonna, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at United Hospital in Saint Paul, MN. Woodley Funeral Home of Greene is caring for Bruce and his family.
A private family graveside will be held, and Bruce will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock, IA.
Bruce was born on August 26, 1950, in Charles City, IA to Merland Cletus Lines and LaVonne Arline (Daughenbaugh) Lines. He was the oldest of five children and always teased he was the “perfect” child. He grew up in Marble Rock, IA and graduated from Rockford High School, then went on to attend some college. He was a proud Eagle Scout and helped build the swimming pool in Marble Rock. In his younger years, he worked for Jim McNeilus and did a lot of stone work in Marble Rock.
For the last 50 years, Bruce resided in the south Minneapolis area and worked for over 30 years as a bartender. In his free time, he enjoyed going for motorcycle rides, collecting guns/knives and working on various projects.
Bruce was always wanting to obtain more knowledge and learn. He was very educated and an avid reader. He was self-taught in many skills such as working with leather, sewing, and building. Bruce loved animals; especially dogs and cats.
For those closest to him, they knew him as a jokester and if he teased you, it meant he truly cared about you.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two sisters, Deb (Mike Bigelow) Lines of Forest City, IA and Joyce (Tim) Hauge of Northwood, IA; nephew, Craig (Jill) Hanna and sons Parker Hanna and Mack Hanna and niece, Kayla Hanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merland and LaVonne and two brothers, Craig and Juhl Lines.
