Harold Leroy Wendel, 84, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center – North Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 202.

Harold Leroy Wendel, 84, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center – North Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia, with Rev. Melanie Greengo officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:30 p.m., at the church on Thursday. Harold, a twin, was born December 6, 1939, in Mason City, the son of Harold (HL) and Liola (Kilfoil) Wendel. He attended Mason City Public Schools and worked on the family farm. Over the years, Harold worked different jobs including delivering milk when they lived in Arizona, and then after moving back to Iowa, he worked for Andrews Concrete, Clear Lake Appliances, Cole TV and Minnesota Rubber where he retired after 31 years.

Harold married the love of his life, Doris Kathryn Juhl, October 30, 1960, in Clear Lake, Iowa. Together they purchased and ran Wendel TV while raising their 3 boys. Harold enjoyed going to races and watching them on TV. He also enjoyed going to the casinos. A favorite tradition was traveling with his wife Doris, and the boys to Arizona for Christmas.

Harold is survived by his wife, Doris; three sons, Vance (Kim) Wendel of Clear Lake, Iowa, Todd (Barb) Wendel of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Clint (Kirstin) Wendel of Mason City, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three sisters, Lila Perry, Mary Wendel Baker, and Paula (John) Chambers; sister-in-law, Wanda Orr; along with many nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Wilbur, Howard, Cliff, Tom, Jerry, and George; and two sisters Juanita Johnson and Loyola Bohnsack.
