James C. “Jim” Dahle, 75 of Northwood died Sunday, March 3, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 600 5th Street, Kensett, IA with Rev. Linda Johnson Prestholt and Rev. Tim Nappe officiating.

He will be laid to rest at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood, IA.

Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm prior to the service at the church.

The family suggests memorials be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church.

Jim was born July 7, 1948, the son of Melvin and Edvina Dahle, spending his first nights in a dresser drawer fit as a crib at the family home in Kensett. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Kensett was an integral part of Jim’s life. Growing up as one of the Kensett Kids, he graduated from Northwood-Kensett High School with the class of 1966.

On June 1, 1968 Jim married Sonya Pacey in Northwood, IA and were blessed with two sons: Jason and Joel. Following their marriage, Jim enlisted into the United States Army, where he served a 20 year career. The family relocated several times, finding opportunity and adventure in their moves overseas and stateside. Whether they were in Italy, Germany or stateside in Florida, the family took in the experience. In 1999 Jim and Sonya returned to North Iowa, eventually making their home in Northwood. No matter how far away, Jim’s home was always Kensett, the Heart of Worth County. He cherished time with life long friends and family in Kensett, just like the good ol’ days.

Across 56 years of cherished memories and unwavering devotion, Jim and Sonya’s love only deepened. In their final days together, they renewed their vows, a true declaration that love conquers all barriers, even those of time itself.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Sonya; sons, Jason (Angie) Dahle of Athens, TN, and Joel (Aimee) Dahle of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Grahm Dahle, Ryann (Hannah) Dahle, Noah (Kristina) Dahle and Emma Dahle; great-grandchildren, Ella Rose, Emersyn, Josie, and Luna; brother-in-law, Don Nappe; sisters-in-law, Barbara Dahle; Breta (Denny) Jackson, Jane Grosland, and Mary (Lonny) Hopperstad; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Melvin and Edvina; brothers,Gary (Marge) Dahle, John Dahle, David Dahle, Donald (Evelyn) Helgeson, and Luverne (Ruby) Helgeson; sisters, Carol Nappe and Betty (Richard) Hedges.
