Women’s College Basketball: #6 Iowa Hawkeyes bury Minnesota Gophers, 108-60

National Player of the Year candidate, Caitlin Clark, surpassed the AIAW’s all-time leading scorer, Lynette Woodard to become the all-time leading scorer in major women’s college basketball history. It was her 17th career triple-double, she is one of two players in the history of women’s college basketball to record a triple-double in four consecutive seasons. She leads the nation with six triple-doubles this season.

Iowa broke the Williams Arena record for most made three’s in a single game. (22) Iowa broke its own school record with 22 made 3-pointers in a single game.

Clark broke the NCAA’s single season all-time 3-pointers made record, she has made 503 in 129 games. – Clark is the first Big Ten women’s basketball player to record 500+ treys in a career. Clark is now only trailing the NCAA men’s scoring champion, Pete Maravich (3,667). Clark has 19 career games with 30+ points and 10+ assists, no one in college women’s basketball in past 25 seasons has more than two such games.

The Hawkeyes tied their program record for most made 3-pointers in a quarter with seven.

Gabbie Marshall became the 44th Hawkeye women’s basketball player to record 1,000 career points. Marshall recorded her second-highest point total. Marshall is the only player in Iowa women’s basketball history to record 200+ 3-pointers and 200+ steals in a career. Marshall netted four treys for the first time since Jan. 31, 2024 at Northwestern.

Iowa has scored 100+ points 10 times this season and in three out of the last four games. It was Iowa’s 16th win by 20+ points this season.

It was Clark’s 17th game with 30+ points this year which ranks first nationally.

Among active players who didn’t transfer, Marshall (120) and Martin (117) are third and fourth nationally for most active wins in a career.

It was Clark’s 61st career double-double which is good for fourth on the Big Ten’s all-time list.

Clark leads the country in 20+ point games this season with 29.

Clark is the only player in the country with 900+ points, 225+ assists, and 175+ rebounds this season.

Iowa is 40-6 in Big Ten play since Feb. 9, 2022.

Since the start of the 2020-21 season, Iowa leads the nation with 100 games of 80+ points.

Iowa also leads the country with 55 games of 90+ points offensively.

UI has scored 80 or more points 23 times this season.

The country’s best offense has record 90+ points in nine out of the last 11 games.

Clark has scored 20+ points in 114-of-129 career games which is the most in program history.

Clark kept her alive streak of 86 consecutive games making a 3-point basket. (NCAA best)

Clark is the first Division-I men’s or women’s player to record 3,600+ points, 1,000+ assists, and 850+ rebounds in a career.
