Christine May, age 73 of Algona, passed away on Friday, January 19th, 2024 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. No formal services are planned at this time. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.
Christine Judie May, the daughter of Wade and Beulah (Thompson) Nielsen, was born on March 11, 1950 in Provo, Utah. She graduated from Los Bonos High School in Los Banos, California in 1968. Chris met Michael May in Los Banos and they were united in marriage on February 23, 1969. They moved to Italy later in 1969 when Michael took a position with the US Army Corps of Engineers. In 1982 she attended Bakersfield City College, in Bakersfield, California where she graduated with her AA. Christine enjoyed attending the Sun Valley Jazz Festival, playing computer casino games, crocheting, and she was known to be an excellent cook.
Left to cherish Christine’s memory is her husband of 54 years, Michael; children, Gregory (Satoko) May of Boise, ID, Jeffery (Stephanie) May of Boise, ID, and Michele May of Algona, IA; grandchildren, Emily May and Alastair May; sister, Deanne Talburt of Bonney Lake, WA; nephews, Tom Talburt of Seattle, WA, Wade Nielsen of Tacoma, WA, and Van Nielsen of Tacoma, WA; nieces, Leann Poussier of Seattle, WA and Tonya Derr of Knoxville, TN; and sister-in-law, Sue Nielsen of Tacoma, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
