Jess Allen Groth, 59, of Hampton, passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton is caring for Jess and his family.
Per his wishes, Jess will be cremated. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, 306 Central Ave, Hampton.
Jess was born on May 15, 1964, in Charles City, IA to Merle and Jane (Affeldt) Groth. He was raised in Riceville, IA and confirmed at St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville. Jess graduated class of 1982 from Riceville High School and went on to graduate from NIACC in Mason City. Jess worked as a plumbing/heating technician for various places, Curries in Mason City and bartended for Pit Row and Willie’s in Hampton.
He really enjoyed socializing with friends and singing Karaoke. His passion was golfing. He also enjoyed other activities such as playing pool, cards, etc. Jess was also an avid Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
He is survived by his mother, siblings and children.
Jess was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.
