Thomas E. Waldschmidt, 69 of Mason City, died Saturday November 11, 2023 at his home. Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 am, Saturday November 18, 2023 at Epiphany Parish, Holy Family.

Thomas E. Waldschmidt, 69 of Mason City, died Saturday November 11, 2023 at his home.

Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 am, Saturday November 18, 2023 at Epiphany Parish, Holy Family. Officiating will be Rev. Neil Manternach. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, at Fullerton Funeral Home. A parish wake will be held at 5:00 p.m.

Thomas Edward was born October 13, 1954 in Emmetsburg, Iowa the son of Elliott and Edna “Lickteig” Waldschmidt. He graduated in 1973 from Algona-Garrigan High School, then from the Building Trade School at NIACC. He began working as a carpenter for Henkel Construction, then for Fieldstone cabinetry and went back to Henkel. He was an all-round carpenter working on everything from bridges to all types of structures. He volunteered as a Scout Master for Troop 401. His favorite hobbies were being outdoors hunting and fishing. He could hardly wait to go trout fishing at Decorah in the spring. His favorite “Helping Others” was the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank, along with other charities. He was a faithful member of his church. On October 30, 1976 he was united in marriage to Jerilyn Wahlert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a member of Holy Family, Knights of Columbus and the North Iowa Wine Club. He won many many awards for his wine making skills and could talk endlessly about the process. He also participated in the Society for Creative Anachronism reenactment.

Surviving Tom is his wife of 47 years, two daughters JaeLee of Minneapolis, Melissa and his son Michael of Mason City, Grandfather of Zak Schachtner , Jennifer Hartman, Renee Waldschmidt, Brother of Patricia Keith, Rita (Ted) Jennings, William (Mary) Waldschmidt, Robert (Marilyn) Waldschmidt, David (Dorothy) Waldschmidt, Virginia (David) Thom

He was preceded in death by his son Christopher, parents, siblings Joan Thompson, John Waldschmidt.
