Konigsmark Klassic set for this weekend at NIACC

MASON CITY - The Konigsmark Klassic is set for Friday and Saturday in the NIACC gym.

MASON CITY – The Konigsmark Klassic is set for Friday and Saturday in the NIACC gym.

The annual two-day event will feature the women’s and men’s basketball teams from NIACC, Ellsworth, Bryant & Stratton and Black Hawk College-Moline.

The Konigsmark Klassic is named after long-time NIACC men’s basketball coach Herb Konigsmark, who coached from 1967-1993 and accumulated a record of 447-286. Konigsmark passed away on Feb. 5, 2006.

The NIACC men’s and women’s teams open their 2023-24 season by facing Bryant & Stratton on Friday and both teams play Black Hawk College-Moline on Saturday.

The NIACC women face Bryant & Stratton at 6 p.m. Friday with the men’s game starting at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the NIACC women play Black Hawk College at 3 p.m. and the men’s game will begin at 5 p.m.

2 p.m. – Ellsworth vs. Black Hawk College-Moline (women)
4 p.m. – Ellsworth vs. Black Hawk College-Moline (men)
6 p.m. – NIACC vs. Bryant & Stratton (women)
6 p.m. – NIACC vs. Bryant & Stratton (men)

Saturday’s games
11 a.m. – Ellsworth vs. Bryant & Stratton (women)
1 p.m. – Ellsworth vs. Bryant & Stratton (men)
3 p.m. – NIACC vs. Black Hawk College-Moline (women)
5 p.m. – NIACC vs. Black Hawk College-Moline (men)
