CEDAR FALLS – UNI men’s basketball rounded out its 2023-24 schedule on Friday with the release of its non-conference slate, featuring a road opener in the Lone Star state, a tournament appearance in the Bahamas and four home contests inside the McLeod Center.
The Panthers will tip off their 122nd season of play with a home exhibition against Division III Coe College on Nov. 1 before their Nov. 7 season opener at North Texas. UNI won its first and only other meeting against the Mean Green back in 2015 and scored a 23-point victory at home.
Northern Iowa will make its regular season home debut on Nov. 14 against Loras College, setting up a four-game road trip that begins with a Nov. 19 stop in Tampa to face off with South Florida. UNI will make its third appearance in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis over the Thanksgiving holiday on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, opening the tournament on Nov. 22 against North Carolina at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN. The Panthers will then take on either Villanova or Texas Tech on Thanksgiving Day, followed by Michigan, Memphis, Arkansas or Stanford in their final game on Nov. 24.
After facing Belmont and Evansville in their early-season Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) contests, UNI will host Richmond on Dec. 6, followed by a trip to northwest Ohio to take on the Toledo Rockets on Dec. 12. The Panthers will host Prairie View A&M (Dec. 12) and Alcorn State (Dec. 17) to close its home non-conference lineup before visiting Northern Illinois in their final game of the calendar year on Dec. 21.
