Vicki Ellen Kalvig, 71 of Nora Springs passed away peacefully Friday, September 29, 2023 surrounded by family. A family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Vicki Ellen Kalvig, 71 of Nora Springs passed away peacefully Friday, September 29, 2023 surrounded by family.

A family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Vicki Ellen was born February 19, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ghetta (Sheeks) Henderson-Baushbaum. Her biological father, Richard Henderson was killed in the Korean War. She was raised by her mother and father, William and Ghetta Baushbaum, growing up in Des Moines. She met her husband, Joseph Kalvig at a dance and the couple was married November 6, 1981 at her mother’s home in Des Moines. She and Joseph were lucky enough to share in the lives of their seven children: Stephanie, Camie, Amy, John, Erin, Jodi and David. For 39 years Vicki worked at Walmart, taking care of many departments until her retirement in 2016.

Vicki found happiness in life’s simple joys. She shared cherished moments hunting and fishing with her husband. Her home was adorned with brass animals and figurines, a collection she held dear. Vicki’s cooking brought comfort to many, a s she loved making food for others. But, what truly set her apart was her unwavering love. She poured her heart into her family, teaching them the essence of love and leaving a lasting legacy of love for others.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, Joseph; her children, Stephanie Condit of Osage, Camie Corley of Mason City, Amy (Russ) Johnson of Osage, John (Darcy) Corley of Montana, Erin (Brian) Neeley of St. Ansgar, Jodi (Jason) Hackbart of Grafton, and David (Brooke) Kalvig of Leland; beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Tori, Teven, Marcus, Maddie, Dani, Trevor, Emilie, Mckenna, Max, Peyton, Ryan and Brooklyn; brothers, Bosco (Jennifer) Baushbaum and Randy (Becky) Baushbaum; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Ghetta; a sister, Mona Money; as well as her beloved feline companion, Turdy and many labradors.
