On May 28th, 2023, at approximately 9:12 PM, the Mason City Fire Department was dispatched for the report of a building fire at Mystic Lanes bowling alley, located at 2571 4th Street SE. Fire crews arrived to find the building fulling engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading, but the building was destroyed.

The Mason City Riverhawks enjoyed Mystic Lanes for practice and competition, as the venue was just across Highway 122 from the High School.  With the fire taking away their home, the Riverhawks are traveling to Charles City to Comet Lanes, but costs to keep the team functioning are mounting.

Today, the Mason City School District announced a fundraiser to help the bowling team out:

“The Mason City Bowling teams suffered a great loss with the fire at Mystic Lanes,” the announcement started.  “In an effort to replace equipment and defray the cost of transporting bowlers to Charles City, they are asking for donations.

“Our bowling team has faced an unexpected challenge as a fire ravaged our bowling alley. To get back on our feet and continue pursuing excellence in the sport we love, we urgently need your generous donations. Our journey to Charles City is not just a trip to replace lost gear, but a chance for our team to rebuild its spirit and determination. Your contribution will not only aid in replacing equipment, but also in revitalizing the morale of our passionate bowlers. Join us in rekindling the flames of our team’s spirit and keeping our pins standing tall! Your support will truly make a striking difference.”

This fundraiser is looking to raise $10,000. Already, $1,785 has been raised as of Friday morning. The fundraiser will close on November 24, 2023. To donate, click the following link: https://t.co/avlM7hBseX.
