Paul was born on January 11, 1947, the son of Manuel and Paulette (Ribes) Garcia of Mason City. He grew up a Central Heights kid. Paul graduated from Mason City High School’s Class of 1965. He proudly served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam from July 4, 1967 to July 4, 1968. Later on he was an active member in the Vietnam Vets Chapter 790. Paul was employed in HVAC for numerous years.

On August 21,1971, Paul married Linda “Skeeter” Skiba in Alpena, MI, and together they had one daughter, Alisa. The family made their home in Mason City for 52 years.

Paul made and gave away over 750 crosses which he made from spent ammo casings from military funerals. He gave the crosses to those who served, as well as their family members and/or friends. Paul was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He went on many mission trips to Appalachia, served breakfast for men’s club, helped with fundraising events for the church and community. Something that the church children enjoyed was being surprised by a different animal for the nativity scene that Paul would bring in.

A highlight of his life was going on an honor flight to Washington, DC, in 2017. Paul enjoyed watching NASCAR. He also had a talent for making various items out of wood.

Those left to cherish memories of Paul are his wife of 52 years, Linda Garcia; daughter, Alisa; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Madeline, and Naomi; siblings, Charlie (Nancy) Garcia, Rolly Garcia, Bernie Eddy, and Paulette (Al) Searle; as well as many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Paul is preceded in death by both of his parents; nephew, Josh Garcia; brothers in-law, Don Eddy and Doug Hanna; along with several fur babies.
