OBIT: Marjorie “Terri” Kavaya

Terri was born on January 22, 1935, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Delger) Terhark of Corwith, IA. She graduated in Corwith High School’s Class of 1952.

Marjorie “Terri” Kavaya, 88, went to her forever home on Tuesday, May 22, 2023 in the Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, IA.

January 22, 1935 – May 22, 2023

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Praise Community Church, 11 2nd St NW, Mason City, IA, with Pastor Jeff Dahlin officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, IA.

Family encourages memorials to be made in Terri’s honor to the Praise Community Church.

Terri was born on January 22, 1935, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Delger) Terhark of Corwith, IA. She graduated in Corwith High School’s Class of 1952. Terri raised two sons, Michael and Mark. Throughout her life, Terri held various positions at different organizations, such as Comprehensive Systems, PCA, Good Shepherd and Neo Life. With her diligent efforts, she achieved a successful retirement at the remarkable age of 86. She took great pride in being independent and hard working.

Terri’s priorities were her family and her faith. Her greatest joy came from the moments she shared with her friends and family, cherishing their company. She truly loved being able to lead others to Christ. Terri led by example by being a loving person, she was a selfless woman that helped others whenever in need. Terri was active in her community by leading exercise classes, attending prayer groups, and in her free time the occasional movie. She also loved spending time outside, biking and admiring all kinds of flowers. Terri also liked to travel and her favorite place she visited was Israel.

Those left to cherish memories of Terri are her son, Mark (Lori) Kavaya; granddaughters, Stephanie (Aaron) Elkins, Michelle Webber, Michaela (Garret) LeFebvre, and Taylor (Josh) Eisenberg; great-grandchildren, Addison and Austin Elkins, CJ Dawson, Jasmine and Reade Smith, Emerson, Rylan, Grayden, and Blakelyn LeFebvre; siblings, Ilene (Charles) Brown, Linda (Ron) Paulsen, Curtis (Arlene) Terhark and Kenny (Karen) Terhark; sister in-law, Maggie Terhark; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Terri is preceded in death by her son, Michael Kavaya; her parents, Fred and Anna Terhark; siblings, Betty Terhark, Harm (Jean Ann) Terhark, and Carroll Terhark; and niece, Brenda Krenshaw.
