Carol Hilda Wicks, the daughter of Carl and Nellie (Nielsen) Wicks was born November 4th, 1953 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa. She died May 11, 2023 at her home in Graettinger, Iowa, at the age of 69.
She attended Graettinger schools, where she graduated from in 1971. After high school she attended Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa, for 2 years. She then transferred to Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she graduated with a degree in social work.
Carol began her career as a social worker in Minneapolis where she developed her lifelong love of geriatrics. After moving back to Estherville in 1981, she began work at The Good Samaritan Society. This is where she spent the remainder of her career until she retired in 2015. She loved her job as a social worker and all the friends she made along the way.
Carol enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger.
Left to cherish Carol’s memory are her cousin Bob Callahan; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and her beloved pet, Holle Belle.
She has been preceded in death by her sister Karen; brother Carl (Carol); her parents; and special friend Roy Roberts.
