Earl B. Miner, 72 of Mason City, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 13, 2023 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center surrounded by family.

Family will celebrate his life in a private gathering.

Earl Bert Miner was born March 21, 1951 in Blooming Prairie, MN the son of Harold B. and Blanche (Olson) Miner. He enjoyed growing up on the family farm. The family later moved to Mason City, where he graduated from Mason City High School in 1969. He worked at Miner’s Auto Repair beside his dad and uncle for many years, learning the tricks of the trade, later helping with road construction to build I-35. On February 17, 1978 he married the love of his life, Ann J. Crum in Sioux Falls, SD and were blessed with a daughter, Katie. The family made their home in Mason City where Earl worked for Curries on the frame line for 35 years.

Earl thrived in the great outdoors. The thought of catching the big one lured him eagerly, whether under the balmy sun of summer or the icy grip of winter. Time in his own backyard held a special place in his heart. A true jack of all trades, his skillful touch mended what was broken and fearlessly tackled any challenge that came his way. He was a dedicated supporter of the Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Chiefs, and Iowa Hawkeyes. Earl’s infectious humor brightened every room he entered. He embodied the essence of love and family, a beacon of warmth and devotion. Lovingly known as “Uncle Earl”, he played an active role in the lives of his many beloved nieces and nephews. Earl dedicated his life as a husband, father, and doting grandfather. He played an irreplaceable role, actively participating in their endeavors and beaming with pride at their accomplishments.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Ann; daughter, Katie (Evan Fenske) Koenigs of Mason City; grandchildren, Hannah and Ryan; siblings, Mary (Dave) Johnson, Dean (Vicki) Miner, Darlene Gunderson and Harold “Shorty” (Elin) Miner; cherished four legged companion, Ruby; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Preceding him in death are his parents; a brother-in-law, Nate Gunderson; Ann’s parents, Dorlin and Mary Ann Crum.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Behr, Jennifer McCambridge, their staff, MercyOne ICU Unit as well as all of the nurses and aides that cared for Earl with compassion and remarkable dedication. Thank you.
