Max Arlan Quastad, son of Adolph and Regina (Carson) Quastad, was born on November 4, 1931 on a farm near Armstrong, Iowa. Max passed away surrounded by his family at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong on April 3, 2023 at the age of 91 years.
Max graduated from Armstrong High School. Max was a lifelong farmer. He had a passion for anything and everything cattle. He ran his own feedlot for many years and enjoyed attending cattle sales. In his later years, Max worked for Vince and Kyle Rolling until he was 88 years old.
On March 20, 1951, he was united in marriage to Orma Jean Sabin at the Free Methodist Church in Armstrong. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Armstrong.
Max is survived by his wife Orma Jean of Armstrong, his children Arlen (Barb) Quastad of Dolliver, Darwin (Robbin) Quastad of Armstrong, Murray (Barb) Quastad of Richfield, Utah, Scott Quastad of Armstrong, LaKaye (Paul) Schutjer of Wesley; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Kathleen House- and Karen (Richard) Dreyer, his sister-in-law Evelyn Quastad, and many nieces and nephews.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, brother Marlyn Quastad, and grandson Jake Schutjer.
