PALO ALTO COUNTY – Law enforcement in this Northern Iowa county are warning of a suspected posing as a cop and pulling people over.

On April 11, 2023, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a concerned citizen that was traveling south in the 3500 block of 380th Avenue. The reporting party advised that an early 2000’s red Chevy truck came up behind them at a high rate of speed while they were driving south on 380th Avenue. The reporting party advised that when the Chevy truck pulled up behind them, red and blue lights were activated from inside the truck. The reporting party advised that they pulled over and a male subject, age 18-25 with facial hair exited the Chevy truck. The reporting party said that the male was wearing “street clothes” so the reporting party left the scene.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office advises the public “to call in if they have any similar incidents. Do not pull over, if anyone in a vehicle matching this type of vehicle attempts to pull you over. Immediately call 911 and report it to our office or the nearest law enforcement agency.”
