Northern Iowa man allegedly prowling in backyards caught with weed and meth; faces felonies

ARMSTRONG, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man was allegedly prowling in folks’ backyards when he was caught with weed and meth b police, and now faces felony charges.

According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, on March 2nd at 8:21pm, the sheriff’s office received a report of a suspicious person in residential backyards in the 300 block of 1st Avenue in Armstrong.

Deputies arrived on scene at 8:24pm and encountered an adult male standing behind a building at this location.

Upon further investigation at the scene, the male was found to be in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
As a result, sheriff’s deputies placed 40-year-old Jason Polzin of Armstrong under arrest. Polzin was transported to the Emmet County Jail where he was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense (Marijuana) a class (D) felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense (Methamphetamine) a class (D) felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

After an appearance before the Emmet County Magistrate, Polzin remains held in the Emmet County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond. The incident remains under investigation.

A charge is merely an allegation and all persons are presumed innocent unless or until they are found guilty in a court of law.
