OBIT: Vivian R. Rasmussen

Vivian Rasmussen, age 90, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend, passed away peacefully in Clear Lake on Monday, February 20th, 2023.

Vivian Rasmussen, age 90, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend, passed away peacefully in Clear Lake on Monday, February 20th, 2023.

She had accomplished everything she wished to do in this earthly life and was looking forward to joining Jesus and her husband Dwayne who passed away six years ago.  She raised four children, Kevin, Terry, Jean, and Julie on a farm north of Miller.  Vivian was a wonderful wife and mother and always said “I wish I could do it all over again.”  Vivian visited Grandma Hannah Hansen every day, she read stories for her children, encouraged them at school, prepared marvelous meals for her family, and enjoyed socializing with the families of five of her brothers and sisters who farmed  nearby.

Vivian was the youngest of 10 children; in addition to Iowa, her older brothers and sisters lived in Minnesota, Oklahoma, and California.  She graduated from Forest City High School in 1951 and worked as a bank secretary in Minneapolis until marrying her husband Dwayne in 1958.  After her children grew up, she loved her dogs Bernie and Laney while planning the next family get-together.  Outside the home, she was active with church, sang with Sweet Adeline’s and travelled to Arizona for several winters with her husband.

In her elder years, she was blessed by the care provided by her niece Twyla Quinn and husband Mike; weekend visits by her children, grandchildren, and grand doggies; visits from many nieces and nephews and their families; visits by Connie and Tracy Schroeder; and by friends and neighbors from Orchard Lane, and finally the care from the wonderful staff at the Oakwood Courtyard Assisted Living Apartments.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner with Rev. Derek Crawford from Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel.
