Women’s College Basketball: No. 20 Iowa State beaten at Oklahoma State, 73-68

With the loss, ISU falls to 17-8 overall and 9-6 in Big 12 action, while OSU improves to 20-7 overall and 10-5 in league play.

How It Happened
The Cyclones and Cowgirls combined to hit 10 3-pointers, five for each team, in a first half that saw OSU shoot 53.1 percent from the field and take a 42-33 lead into the break.

ISU trailed 22-19 at the end of the first quarter but OSU used a 6-0 run early in the second to extend its lead. The Cowgirls led by as many as 13 points with just over two minutes left in the half.

Iowa State went on an 11-2 run to start the third quarter, tying it at 44-44. The Cyclones led 51-50 at the two-minute mark of the third, but the Cowgirls closed the period on a 7-2 run to lead 57-53 heading to the fourth.

In the fourth quarter, the teams were tied at 64-64 before OSU scored the next four points to regain a little control. The dagger shot came with ISU trailing 68-66.

OSU’s Anna Asi connected on a 3-pointer as the shot clock expired and just 0:48 remaining to put the Cowgirls up 71-66. OSU was able to put the game away at the free-throw line on its way to its sixth-straight win, while ISU saw its two-game winning streak halted.

Top Performers
Ashley Joens scored 20 points, including 6-for-6 at the charity stripe. Morgan Kane scored a season-high 16 points, making 6-of-7 field goal attempts and pulling down seven rebounds.

Emily Ryan finished with nine points and eight rebounds.

Iowa State hosts TCU Saturday at 5 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. The game will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ and tickets can be bought through the Iowa State Ticket Office.
