Patricia “Pat” Rita Klemas, 88 of Mason City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday February 14, 2023 at Good Shepherd Heath Center, Mason City. The family is thankful for the compassionate care Pat received from the staff of Good Shepherd Health Center and Mercy One Hospice of North Iowa.
Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM. Friday, February 24, 2023 at Fullerton Funeral Home. Officiating by Epiphany Parish. There will be one hour gathering prior to the services. Burial at sea with her husband will be done at a later date off the East Coast.
Pat was born on October 4, 1934 in Worcester, Massachusetts. She graduated from St. Peters High School in Worcester. On a blind date on a beach she met her future husband Ted Klemas in San Diego, California while he was stationed at Coronado Island, serving in the Navy. They were joined in matrimony on September 29, 1956. They moved to Las Angeles and later moved to the East Coast. In 1962 they moved to Mason City where they made their home and remained for the rest of their lives. She was a prolific reader and enjoyed a wide range of topics, but even in her adult life liked Nancy Drew novels the best. She volunteered countless hours for various groups. Pat was active in politics and passionate in her beliefs but her family was her biggest passion.
Those thankful in sharing Pats life include her four children Christine Klemas Luna of Merced, California, Elizabeth and her husband David Funk, Kathleen and her husband David Barloon, and Steve Klemas all of Mason City, eight Grandchildren Jacob (Lyndsay) and Rachel Krueger, Gabrielle (Jake) Hall, Jordan and Garrett Barloon, Tony and Joey (Amber) Funk, and Allaire Klemas, 16 Great Grandchildren. Sister-in-Law June Klemas, Cousins John, Mike (Diana), and Dennis Klemas.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, parents, son-in-law Robert Luna and two Brother-in-Law Roger and Clayton Klemas, and her parents-in-law.
