Police make arrest for animal neglect after dogs found in freezer

SAC CITY, IOWA - After a police investigation, police made an arrest for animal neglect after dogs were found in a freezer in Northern Iowa.

SAC CITY, IOWA – After a police investigation, police made an arrest for animal neglect after dogs were found in a freezer.

On January 1, 2023 the Sac City Police Department investigated an alleged animal abuse report at 211 East Ahrens Street in Sac City, Iowa. Upon entry of the residence, a search was conducted. During the search, three deceased dogs were found in freezers and two deceased cats were found in the residence.

Billy Jo Beyer-Langner was arrested and charged with five counts of Animal Neglect with Serious Injury or Death, each being an Aggravated Misdemeanor and Interference with Official acts, a Simple Misdemeanor.

Billy Jo Beyer-Langner was booked into the Sac County Jail.

This case is still under investigation.

As a public service reminder, dogs and other pets should not necessarily be left in extremely cold temperatures. Also, it is generally a poor idea to stuff dead squirrels and other creatures you have shot into a dryer in your back yard.
