Vivian Immel, 78, of Charles City, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A memorial service for Vivian Immel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary cemetery in Charles City.
A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
Vivian Ruth (Nelson) Immel, the daughter of Raymond and Ardis (Nelson) DeMar, was born May 15, 1944 in Charles City. She was educated in Charles City, graduating from Charles City High School.
On June 20, 1964 Vivian was united in marriage to Richard Immel at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Charles City and the union was blessed with one son, Michael, who lived at Comprehensive Systems for most of his life. This gave Richard and Vivian an opportunity to be involved with Comprehensive Systems in many capacities including Vivian being a past board member.
Vivian worked for State Farm Insurance and the Charles City Community School System for most of her working career. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and she volunteered countless hours for the PAWS Humane Society and SNAP Program.
Living family members include her sister, Nancy (Henry) Pirhonen; brother, Ray (Lyn) DeMar; nephew, Chad (Jenna) DeMar and their children: Sydney, Keaton and Kellen; nephew, Clint (Kyla) DeMar and their son, Hudson; and nephew, Eric (Leslie) DeMar and their children: Nolan, Adelynn and Cole.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ardis DeMar; husband, Richard Immel; son, Michael Immel; and brother, Robert DeMar.
