Graveside services for Jeanetta Simpson will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.
Jeanetta Lee Simpson was born June 17, 1942, in Burt, Iowa, the daughter of Wilfred and Iva Marie (Brayton) Woltz. She grew up in Burt where she attended school and graduated from the Burt High School in 1960. After her schooling she moved to Des Moines where she worked for Look Magazine.
On December 9, 1960, Jeanetta was united in marriage to Richard Simpson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived and farmed near Algona, Iowa.
Jeanetta enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles and growing her flower and vegetable gardens, cheering for the Minnesota Twins, watching college basketball and running road races with Richard. She also enjoyed watching home improvement shows on HGTV as she was always looking for ideas to improve the house. The biggest joy for Jeanetta was taking care of her family, especially the grandchildren and following them in their many activities. She was a member of the Irvington Presbyterian Church.
Jeanetta died Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona at the age of 80.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Simpson of Algona; daughter, Kim Drenth of Rock Rapids, Iowa; son, Barry and wife, Stacy Simpson of Lu Verne, Iowa; five grandchildren, Emily Drenth, Joe (Kayleen) Drenth, Jill (Brady) Struve, Carson Simpson and Kyle Simpson and six great-grandchildren, Graham, George, Goldie, Guinevere, Ellis and Cora. Also surviving are siblings, Judy Woltz of Elmore, MN; Patricia Weber of Algona and sister-in-law, Ann Woltz of West Des Moines and brother-in-law, Roger Abbott of Clarion and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane Abbott; brother, Mike Woltz and brother-in-law, Paul Weber.
