In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, memorials may be left in care of Mike’s family.

Mike was born on March 27, 1966 to Gene and Judy (Boelman) Draper. He grew up in Alexander and attended CAL-Latimer High School, graduating in 1984. During high school he took a trip with his classmates and visited many different countries across Europe. It was a trip he always remembered fondly.

On August 6, 1988 Mike was united in marriage to Julie Mitchell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Together they would be blessed with three children and nearly 35 years of marriage. Mike loved his family first and foremost above all else. He was blessed with three grandchildren and cherished every minute spent with them.

In earlier years Mike attended NIACC where he obtained his AA degree. He worked at MercyOne in Mason City in the medical records department for six years before retiring to stay at home and raise Hailey, Kylie, and Cody. He was currently working towards earning his accounting degree.

Mike loved music and movies. His style in music ranged from Korn all the way to Celine Dion, no matter the genre. He was known for his love of movies and his ability to recite lines from hundreds of different films. He was a devoted Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings football fan and looked forward to playing in the family’s fantasy football league.

Above all else Mike will be remembered for his love of family and great sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face and would light up the room with a quick joke or one-liner.

Those grateful in sharing in his life are his wife, Julie; children, Hailey Draper and fiancé, Matt Brown, Kylie Draper and fiancé, Logan Harris, and Cody Draper and girlfriend and Mike’s “Best Friend,” Alyssa Waage; his three grandchildren, Neko and Kato Harris and Adaline Brown; parents, Gene and Judy Draper; brother, Ken (Jody) Draper; father and mother in law, Jane and Dan Billings; many nieces and nephews, including Jessie (Patrick) Olmstead and Jacob Anderson; and many cousins, including Troy and Tony Pals.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Jackie (Alan) Anderson; grandparents, Herman and Esther Boelman; grandmother, Elizabeth Draper; great grandmother, Tina Schmidt; aunt, Joan Brunsvold; and uncle, Marvin Draper.
