CLARKE COUNTY - An Iowa man died in a wrong-way head-on collision with a semi on Interstate 35.

CLARKE COUNTY – An Iowa man died in a wrong-way head-on collision with a semi on Interstate 35.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on December 1, 2022. At about 6:27 PM that evening, a 2–8 Chevy Impala driven by 82-year-old Larry Wayne Ross of Osceola, Iowa, was traveling in the wrong direction – southbound in the northbound lanes – on Interstate 35 near the 33 mile marker in Clarke county, Iowa. At the same time and location, a 2015 Peterbilt semi tractor driven by 50-year-old Aksson Battin of Rock Island, Illinois, was northbound and was unable to avoid colliding with the Impala, leading to a head-on collision.

As a result of the crash, Ross was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital and succumbed to his injuries. Battin was also transported to a hospital to be checked over.
