Barb was born on November 19, 1938, in Charles City, Iowa, the oldest of six children her parents, Catherine and Robert Byrne, raised. She attended school at Immaculate Conception in Charles City and started working at Salsbury, an animal health laboratory. In 1962, she married Leo, a farmer she quickly fell in love with after they met. She devoted all her time to their six children and raised them to be kind, loving, and thoughtful, just like she was. Barb and Leo spent hours playing cards with their family and friends between church, sporting events, and family trips to Okoboji. For many years, Barb and Leo spent their Sundays with all five of their surviving children and more grandchildren every year.

Barb is survived by her five children, Daniel Staudt (Allison), Lori Halsted (Joe Anderson), Mark Staudt (Kathy), Michael Staudt (Stacy), and Melissa Davis (Curt); her grandchildren, Katelyn, Alex, Paige, Cole, AJ, Adam, Emma, Nick, Megan, Jake, Olivia, Anna, Amber, Izzy, Thomas, and Sam; her great-grandchild, Emmett, and one more on the way; her siblings, Pat Levenhagen, David Byrne (Janice), Jean Byrne, Kathy Worrall, and Roberta Byrne; her sisters-in-law, Cleo Hebert and Ellen O’Connell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo Staudt, her daughter, Jannette Staudt, and her parents, Robert and Catherine Byrne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family and will be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.
