Marie Irene Koehler, 76, of Nashua, IA and formerly of Charles City, IA died on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Floyd County Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Marie was born on June 7, 1946 in Charles City to Ira and Mildred (Aske) Lutz. She grew up on a family farm outside of Colwell, IA and attended school in Colwell until transferring to Charles City where she graduated from Charles City High School in 1966. On December 11, 1966 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, James Charles Koehler at the United Church of Christ in Colwell. Marie was a stay at home mom with their daughter until 1995 when she started working at McDonalds in Charles City for approximately 20 years.
Everyone loved Marie; she was a social butterfly and loved talking to anyone and everyone. In her younger years she was very active in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Marie also loved horses; she grew up with horses and rode horses well into her seventies. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and friend to anyone she encountered.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Pam Hildebrand of Mason City; brother, David Lutz; sister, Beverly Schmitt and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011, James Charles Koehler; son in infancy, James Charles Jr.; parents, Ira and Mildred Lutz; brother, Harlan Lutz; sister, Betty “Jean” (Louis) Bruening; son-in-law, Paul “Steve” Hildebrand; mother-in-law, Idell (Moore) Merrill; sister-in-law, Lois (Koehler) Saiz; sister-in-law, Georgie Lutz and brother-in-law, Joseph Schmitt.
