CLEAR LAKE – Officials are seeking input for a new Comprehensive Plan for Cerro Gordo county, Mason City, and Clear Lake.
According to city hall in Clear Lake, “the City of Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo County, and the City of Mason City selected RDG to assist in the preparation of a new Comprehensive Plan for each entity. Public participation in the planning process is very important. As part of this process, citizens are invited to complete an online survey and attend open house meetings.
The comprehensive plan has the potential to affect just about everyone in our community. The plan provides recommendations on policies and programs related to housing, transportation, natural resources, land-use; as well as others that will have an impact on future growth and development of Clear Lake.
According to the North Iowa Corridor, “The North Iowa Joint Comprehensive Plan represents that cooperative planning best serves the entire region. Growth within one jurisdiction influences development in the others. Clear Lake, Mason City, and the unincorporated areas of Cerro Gordo County are planning together to encourage growth and develop beneficial policies. Help us create a joint comprehensive plan for the North Iowa Corridor to establish a vision for the future. A comprehensive plan is a long-range plan for determining a community’s goals and can guide development, growth, services, and preservation. This plan will help develop policies and guidelines for future development and planning efforts. The final plan will help coordinate goals to create one cohesive community.”
