IOWA FALLS - Local law enforcement authorities converged on an Iowa Falls apartment after a man made threats of gunfire.

IOWA FALLS – Local law enforcement authorities converged on an Iowa Falls apartment after a man made threats of gunfire.

The incident began, police say, when an Iowa Falls police officer and a Hardin County deputy went to an apartment to apprehend a subject on the suspicion of violating a protective order and domestic abuse assault. The deputy and officer made contact with the suspect who then locked himself in the apartment, advised he had a gun and would shoot through the door. The immediate area around the apartment was blocked off for safety and to give the officers room to work. Members of the Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team responded, and after some time trying to negotiate with the suspect, they were able make entry into the apartment and take the suspect into custody.

The suspect, 56-year-old Jerry White of Iowa Falls, was taken to the Hardin County Jail, and stand charged with:

– possession of drug paraphernalia
– interfere with official acts
– domestic abuse assault – 2nd offense
– false imprisonment
– violation of pretrial release

Iowa Falls police thanked the Iowa State Patrol and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this incident.
