College Football: Oklahoma defeats Iowa State, 27-13

AMES – Iowa State hug tough with Oklahoma Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, but the Sooners were too much, defeating the Cyclones 27-13 in a Big 12 Conference matchup.

Three interceptions by the Oklahoma defense was too much for Iowa State to overcome Saturday. The final picked-off pass came with Iowa State trailing by only a touchdown in the fourth quarter, 20-13, leading to another score for the Sooners.

Oklahoma (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) hands the fifth straight loss to Iowa State (3-5, 0-5 Big 12).

Iowa State plays West Virginia next Saturday in another home contest, for homecoming.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Hunter Dekkers
*Tallied his second career 300-yard passing game with 312 yards.
*Becomes fifth player in school history with over 300 yards passing against Oklahoma. *Completed 37-of-57 passes, both career highs.
*Had over 30 yards rushing for the second-straight game.

Xavier Hutchinson
*Now has 33 consecutive games with a reception, the third-longest streak in school history. *Passes Deshaunte Jones (76- 2019) for third on the single-season receptions list with 77 this year. *Has at least eight receptions in all eight games.
*Caught 10 passes, giving him four games this year with double-digit receptions.

Jaylin Noel
*Tied his career high for the third time with seven receptions. *Recorded his third touchdown in the last two games.

Dimitri Stanley
*Caught six passes for 90 yards, both Iowa State career-highs.

Cartevious Norton
*Rushed for 27 yards on 11 carries, a career-high in both.

MJ Anderson
*Recorded his second sack of the season.

O’Rien Vance
*Made his 40th career start.
*Tied a season-high eight tackles.

Gerry Vaughn
*Recovered his second career fumble.

Anthony Johnson Jr.
*Made his 50th career start, including 49-straight, becoming the first player in school history to start 50 games. *With eight tackles today, now has 28 tackles in the last three games.

T.J. Tampa
*Tallied a career-high four pass break-ups. Entered the game with six breakups in six different games.
Myles Purchase
*Forced his first career fumble.
