Catherine “Cathy” Jollette Kirschbaum, 84, of Clear Lake, IA, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, September 26, 2022 at the Fertile Church of Christ, 3493 Eagle Ave, Fertile, IA 50434.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Cathy was born March 23, 1938 in Forest City, IA, daughter of Russell and Ruby (Jones) Bower. She graduated from Forest City High School. After high school, she married Royce Hippen. They had four children, Michael, Brenda, William and Randy. She later married Thomas “Tom” Kirschbaum and they had one son, John. Cathy and Tom owned and operated The Creamery restaurant in Fertile. They later sold the restaurant and drove the long-haul route to the western states for Fertile Feed. She also opened a tea room in the Old Creamery.
Cathy enjoyed tending to the flowers in her garden, cooking, and decorating her home.
Cathy is survived by her children, Michael Hippen, Brenda (Tim) Hennigar, William (Marsha) Hippen, Randal (Kim) Hippen, and John (Sara) Kirschbaum; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Herbert) Egts, Maxine Cobb; and sister-in-law, Gloria Bower.
Cathy was preceded in death by husband, Tom; parents, Russell and Ruby; sisters, Alris (Gary) Flohr, and Caroline (William) Hines; brother, Mike Bower; and brother-in-law, Fred Cobb.
