OBIT: Doris Edna Anderson

Doris Edna Anderson, 86, of Fertile, IA, passed away on September 3, 2022 at Country Meadow Place in Mason City, IA.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30pm Friday, September 9, 2022 at Ward-Van-Slyke Colonial Chapel 310 1st Ave N, Clear Lake, IA, with Pastor Dennis officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Celebration of Life from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Doris was born on August 4, 1936, the daughter of Leon and Freda (Idler) Wood of Basset, IA. She was a graduate of Charles City High School. On June 22, 1957, she married Robert “PeeWee” Anderson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. The couple had four children together. For many years she worked at Unisys and in later years, before her retirement, was working at Winnebago.

She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. Doris was known for her rhubarb pie and peanut brittle which she often gifted to her neighbors in Fertile. She also liked bird watching and gardening.

Those left to cherish memories of Doris are her children, Michael (Patti) Anderson, Dawn Hagen, Mark (Chris) Anderson, Deb (John Lohse) Anderson; grandchildren, Brian Anderson, Jennifer Alan-Anderson, Tiffany (Jesse) Groves, Kylie (Drew) Steele, Bobby Anderson, Jeremiah (Ana) Hagen, Justin Hagen; great-grandchildren, Rosa, Drake, Nevaeh, Skyla, and Logan; siblings, Owen Wood, Leland Wood, and Marie Hennick; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Doris is preceded in death by both of her parents; Robert Anderson; her siblings, Russell Wood, Anna May Nauman, son-in-law, Terry Hagen.
