Authorities rescue man trapped in Hardin county grain bin

HARDIN COUNTY – Authorities rescued a man trapped in a Hardin county grain bin.

At approximately 11:16 AM Friday, the Hardin County sheriff’s 0ffice received a 911 call of a male trapped in a grain bin. All Hardin County Fire Departments and EMS services were dispatched to the scene. At approximately 12:36 PM, the male was extricated from the grain bin, he was conscious and breathing and was transported to Hansen Family Hospital. The call was handled by the Hardin County IA Communications Center and the Iowa Falls Police Department Communications Center.

Responding agencies included the Ackley Fire Department and Ackley Ambulance, Alden Fire Department, Buckeye Fire Department, Eldora Fire Rescue and Eldora EMS, Hubbard Fire Department and Hubbard Ambulance, New Providence Fire Department, Radcliffe Fire Department, Steamboat Rock Fire Department, Union Volunteer Fire Department and Union Ambulance, Whitten Fire Department, the Hardin County Emergency Squad, Hardin County Emergency Management, Air Care, and the Hardin County Sheriffs Office.

“This incident was a team effort and was successful due to the people involved, the countless hours of training, time spent away from their families and their relentless approach to succeed,” the Hardin county sheriff’s office said in a statement.
