OBIT: Alan Chadd Baker

Alan C.Baker, 65, of Ventura, IA, completed his journey of life on Friday, August 12th, 2022. The memorial service will be held 3:00pm, Saturday, August 27th, 2022 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave N, Clear Lake, IA 50428 with Pastor Linda Prestholt officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm Saturday, August 27th at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.
Memorials may be directed to the Alan Baker Memorial Fund.

Alan Chadd Baker was born April 17th, 1957 at Mercy Hospital in Mason City. He was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church, Miller Iowa. Alan was united in marriage to Shirley Oehlert on April 12th, 1988, and delightedly welcomed their daughter,Ashley Ranae, into their family on July 12th. They have lived in Ventura Iowa their entire life. As a young man and only son with 5 older sisters, he spent most of his time outside helping Dad on the farm. Alan had an interest in hunting, fishing, and trips with his friends and family. He enjoyed a good western, ice cream, and of course playing cards, inspired by his parents and siblings. He was thankful for his Christian heritage and love shown by family. Alan did construction and mechanic work. He worked for Eaton’s in Belmond, Walmart Tire-Lube Express, and most recently worked at Winnebago in Forest City.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Ashley Baker of Ventura, step-daughter Angie Powell,and husband Roy, and their children Teaghan, and Tierney of Liberty Lake Washington; five sisters and their spouses, Martha Gunderson and husband Jim of Ham Lake, Minnesota, Mary Baker Sawin and husband Robert of Kensett, Julie Azeltine and husband Patrick of Clear Lake, Jane Suby and husband Richard of Miller, Joann Kroneman and husband Allan of St. Ansgar. One brother in law Ron Gunderson and wife Beth of Box Springs, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Chadd and Jennie Baker.
