Born Diana Newby in Terril, Iowa in 1939, she was the daughter of the late Burton Newby and late Mabel Newby Finch.
She graduated from Terril high school and Upper Iowa University. In 1959 she was united in marriage to Everett Oliphant. To that union was born one son, Kevin, and two daughters, Keri and Rene.
Diana began her teaching career as an English teacher at CAL Community Schools and finished her teaching career as a librarian at Living Word Academy in Lancaster, PA. She was an avid reader and loved her special education students!
Her time was well spent serving others, in church, Bible Studies, on the mission field and stateside. There are many she touched that will continue to be influenced forever by her love, compassion, friendship and prayers. Sensitive to people and their hearts, she was always quick to offer a word of encouragement or comfort and then stay in the background, letting God get the glory. A true servant of the Lord, Diana will be greatly missed and remain a treasure of the heart.
She is survived by her three children, Kevin Oliphant (Wendy) of Los Angeles, CA, Keri Hartwell (Stephen) of Clear Lake, IA and Rene Zimmerman (Brian) of Lebanon, PA, her brother Glenn Newby (Sue) of New Richmond, WI, her ministry colleague, best friend and caregiver, Patti Schwabe of Blacklick, OH, her many grandchildren and two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many friends who loved her dearly. Diana was predeceased by her father and mother, Burton Newby and Mabel Newby Finch and a brother Derry Newby (Nancy).
