NORA SPRINGS – A Mason City man died in an auto crash near Nora Springs.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Monday evening, July 25, 2022. At 11:10 PM that evening, a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by 58-year-old Timothy Hoy of Charles City was eastbound on 265th Street near Yarrow Avenue. The Altima crossed the center line and collided with a 2005 Pontiac G5 driven by Stephen Miles of Mason City, striking it head-on. The G5 came to rest in a ditch, while the Altima remained on the roadway, where it was struck by third vehicle.
As a result of the accident, Stephen Miles was killed. Also hurt were 16-year-old Tyler Miles and 17-year-old Jackson Gobeli, both of Mason City. They were taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, Nora Springs first responders and Mason City first responders.
