Mason City Earth Day Committee sets Winnebago River cleanup

MASON CITY – Mason City Earth Day Committee sets Winnebago River cleanup

A river cleanup float will be held on the Winnebago River on Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m. – Noon.

This float is open to the public and a limited number of canoes will be available for use. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own canoes or kayaks as well. The 2.5-mile float will begin at East Park and end at Averydale Access on Birch Drive. The float will be physically demanding, and prior canoeing/kayaking experience is required.
Volunteers are asked to wear clothing that can get dirty and wet. Life jackets are required. All participants will need to arrange their own transportation back from the end of the float.

This event is sponsored by the Mason City Earth Day Committee, Landfill of North Iowa, Mason City Active Living and Transportation Commission, Cupola Inn Bed & Breakfast, Cutting Edge Tree Service, and Lime Creek Nature Center. Registration is required for this free event by calling 641-423-5309.
