Sylva Novelle Anderson, the daughter of Wilbur and Sandra (Johnson) Martinson was born on September 3, 1967, in Iowa City, Iowa. She died on July 3, 2022, at her home in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 54 years.
As a child, Sylva moved to Carrington, ND, where she attended and graduated from Carrington High School. Following high school she attended nursing school in Moorhead, ND, earning her associate of applied science degree. Sylva later moved to Fargo and then Jamestown, ND.
Sylva was employed in Home Health Care and Nursing. In 1992, Syl moved to Estherville where she worked for Home Health. In 1993, Syl met Dean Anderson, her future husband. Syl took over the operation of Jane’s Place in Estherville, focusing on Food Service. Later, the couple owned and operated Remember When in Estherville, until her health began to fail.
Syl never knew a stranger. She was loving and reached out to anyone in need. In her leisure time, she loved traveling, being outdoors, and the lakes and swimming. She loved dogs very much, especially Dalmatians, loved flowers, mostly roses, and cooking.
Syl is survived by her husband, Dean of Estherville; her sons, Devon Asmus of Buffalo, New York, Shane Asmus of Huston, Texas, and Tyler Asmus, of Huston Texas; grandchildren, Liam and Landon; siblings, Chuck of Spencer, LaVern of Breckinridge, Minnesota, Marcie, Phoebe, and Cindy; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Sandra (Johnson) Martinson, a brother, Kenny and a sister, Katrina.
