DES MOINES – An armed suspect in a series of Des Moines shootings which includes at least one death has been nabbed by cops.
On March 3, 34-yr-old Blake Myers was shot and killed in the 3rd homicide of 2022 in Des Moines. Evidence in that investigation led to a Material Witness warrant being issued for 38-yr-old Brian Houston, Jr. Detectives followed up on tips from the community, however Houston, Jr was not located.
On May 16, a shooting incident in the 1200 blk 13th St resulted in a 55-yr-old male being seriously injured. Evidence in that investigation identified Houston, Jr. as a suspect in that investigation.
On May 20, Des Moines police detectives and patrol officers located Houston, Jr. in the area of 9th Street and University Ave. He was taken into custody without incident. Houston, Jr. was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.
At this time, Houston, Jr. has been charged with the following offenses related to the May 16 shooting, and his encounter with police during his arrest:
• Attempted Murder
• Felon In Possession Of A Firearm
