Jeanne Whitacre, age 60 of Algona, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at MercyOne in Des Moines. Private family services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place in the Okoboji View Cemetery in Arnold’s Park, Iowa.
Jeanne Marie Leitch, the daughter of Leon and Carley (Kladstrap) Leitch, was born on July 1, 1961 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1979. On April 28, 1979 Jeanne married Lenny Whitacre. They were later divorced.
Jeanne loved to read, play video games and crafts.
Left to cherish Jeanne’s memory are her children, Anthony “Tony” (Amy) Whitacre of Algona, Ashley (Mike Mefferd) Studer of Clear Lake, Andrew (Nikki Salvatore) Whitacre of Algona and Aaron Whitacre of Algona; 7 grandchildren, Alexandra, Addison, Austin, Ryan, Alivia, Bristol and Lennox; siblings, Nancy (Tim) Jensen of Spirit Lake, John Leitch of Dallas, TX and James (Lori) Leitch of Seaside, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Karen Kelly.
