Hit and run BMW driver in Charles City causes thousands of dollars in damage; cops now hunting suspect

CHARLES CITY – A hit and run driver of a BMW in Charles City caused thousands of dollars in damage to the victim vehicle and cops are now hunting a suspect.

The incident took place May 12, 2022. At about 2:05 PM that day, police were called to investigate a hit and run accident at 6th Street and Allison Street. Police say a 2009 Honda Civic driven by 39-year-old Henry Vallebo of Charles City was driving north on Allison Street when a 2007 BMW 525 owned by 33-year-old Darius Fairly ran a yield sign at 6th Street and collided with the side of the Honda. The collision caused approximately $5,000 damage to the Honda and an unknown amount of damage to the BMW. Police say the BMW then left the scene of the incident and so far has not been located.

Police say Fairly faces charges when he is located. Anyone with information should call the Charles City police department.
