CEDAR RAPIDS – The NIACC baseball team earned the second seed for this week’s NJCAA Region XI tournament at Mount Mercy University.
NIACC (34-17 overall, 21-12 in the ICCAC) received a first-round bye in the six-team tournament as the No. 2 seed. Top-seed Kirkwood also received a first-round bye.
NIACC faces the DMACC/Northeast CC winner at 11 a.m. Friday in a second-round contest. Third-seed DMACC plays sixth-seed Northeast CC at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
The winner of the NJCAA Region XI tournament moves to the NJCAA North Plains District tournament that is set for May 20-21 in a best of three series at the NJCAA Region XIII winner.
The winner of the NJCAA North Plains District tournament qualifies for the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, Okla., which is set for May 28-June 4.
