WATERLOO – Waterloo police announced they solved a homicide from earlier this year and arrested a young suspect on a murder charge.
On Saturday, January 8th, 2022, at 9:57 PM, Waterloo police officers responded to a 9-1-1 for a “shooting in progress” at 508 Broadway Street, Waterloo, Iowa. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, later identified as 19-year-old Courtney Lamont Harris suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered first aid until the Waterloo Fire Department arrived and pronounced Harris dead on the scene.
Waterloo police chief Joel Fitzgerald announced, “On Thursday April 21, 2022, Waterloo Police Detectives charged Eugene Love Jr. (20) with 1st Degree Murder in the connection with the shooting death of Courtney Lamont Harris.
