Search warrants lead to arrest of men in connection to Northern Iowa burglaries

SAC COUNTY, IOWA – Search warrants served in Northern Iowa led to the arrest of two men in connection to area burglaries.

The Sac County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Lake View Police Department arrested two Lake View, Iowa men on Friday April 15, 2022.

After the Sac County Sheriff’s Office served at least six separate search warrant since March 4, 2022, arrest warrants were issued for John M. Bogue age 34 of 108 Lake Street, Lake View charging him with two counts of burglary 3rd degree class “D” felonies and on-going criminal conduct, a class “B” felony and three counts of arson 2nd degree and criminal mischief 1st degree. Nick Bogue age 41 of 961 6th Street, Lake View, Iowa was charged with three counts of arson 2nd degree, criminal mischief 1st degree, theft 3rd degree and possession of methamphetamine.

John Bogue’s charges stem from a several month-long investigations into area burglaries. Stolen property had been previously recovered from John Bogues home during a search warrant issued on March 4, 2022. John Bogue has been linked to at least two separate burglaries that occurred in Sac County, Iowa since December of 2021.

Nick Bogues charges stem from a search warrant that was issued at a property he owns on Quincy Ave, just north of Lake View. During that search, stolen property connected to the ongoing burglary investigation was located. Law enforcement allege that stolen property has been kept at Nick Bogues property with his knowledge. A substance that has been identified by the DCI crime lab as methamphetamine was found floating in Bogues toilet when the search warrant was executed. Bogue told law enforcement that he had tried to flush methamphetamine and tramadol down the toilet as law enforcement was attempting to enter his home.

On February 15, 2022, the Lake View Fire Department responded to 2673 Perkins Ave., Lake View for a structure fire. Fire crews on arrival found a two-story abandoned house and two outbuildings on fire. During an investigation into area burglaries, sheriff’s officials had seized the phone of Nick Bogue. A search warrant for the content of the phone was issued. On Nick Bogue’s phone, law enforcement found a video of the house on fire located at 2673 Perkins Ave. This video was time stamped prior to the fire departments notification. During this investigation, it was learned that John Bogue was also present when the video was taken by Nick Bogue.

John Bogue was booked into the Sac County Jail on bond of $80,000.00. Nick Bogue was booked into the Sac County Jail on a bond of $43,000.00.
