OBIT: Josefina “Josie” A. Ubbelohde

Josefina Alimurong “Josie” Ubbelohde, 70, of Clear Lake, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 4, 2022, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, IA.

A Time of Celebration and Sharing will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave N, Clear Lake, IA.

Josie was born on November 18, 1951, in Bamban, Tarlac (Philippines), the daughter of Pedro and Segundina (Alimurong) Castro. She was the third oldest of many Castro siblings. On October 8, 1981, Josie married Mark Ubbelohde in Olongapo, Philippines. Eventually the couple made Clear Lake, IA, their forever home.

When the weather allowed Josie could be found enjoying the outdoors, either gardening or just relaxing. One of Josie’s talents was sewing, she enjoyed adding her personal touch to clothes and things for her family. Josie had a way of touching many lives, whenever anyone was in need she helped as much as possible. Those that were blessed to have met her will not forget her. Josie was the glue that kept her family strong, her presence will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish memories of Josie are her husband, Mark Ubbelohde; children, Jimmy (Mits) Castro-Aguilar; Mark Ubbelohde, Joey Ubbelohde, Mitchell Ubbelohde, Jarvis Ubbelohde, Madeliene Ubbelohde, and Jennifer Smith; grandchildren, Janelle, Jonel, Josh, Isaiah, Kalani, and Maliyah; many castro siblings, son-in-law, Nathan Smith; grand-dog, Leo; as numerous extended family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by parents, and a son, Mario Castro-Aguilar.
