WASHINGTON, D.C. – On a vote of 53-47, the U.S. Senate agreed to bring debate to a close on the nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, thereby placing her on the Supreme Court.
Iowa Republican Senators Charles Grassley and Joni Ernst voted no.
All Democrats voted yes. Three GOP Senators joined Democrats in approving Jackson: Mitt Romney, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.
Jackson will be the first Black woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. She replaces Justice Stephen Breyer, who announced his retirement earlier and will serve out this term.
I remember a time when our Senate, if a candidate was qualified for the SCOTUS, would vote, almost always unanimously, that candidate in. That was before politics came into play for the Supreme Court. The bickering back and forth that happens today tarnishes the reputation of the Court and of Congress. It is really sad. Judge Jackson was overly qualified, much more so than the last two judges yet her nomination was in doubt until the final days. It is disgraceful.
Called vetting
Yeah, right…

Except those that go against the ideology of NIT, and have a different opinion of what’s happening around the world.
How can a bot have an opinion other than Igor’s and Vlad’s, his programmer?
I agree, I don’t think that Bots have opinions. I think that the poster is talking about real live flesh and blood readers/posters that contribute to this site. Truthful journalism shouldn’t take sides. It’s OK to have a different opinion, but when a journalist deletes comments because they go against a personnel opinion or ideology, that’s not true journalism, it’s communism.
Say it isn’t so.
